Product Details

  • The Janssens Royal Victorian Greenhouse reinterprets a classic architectural style for the modern garden. Rather than the boxy utility look of standard greenhouses, this model borrows from Victorian conservatory design — ridge cresting, a refined roofline, and full-height glazing — to create something that reads as a garden room as much as a growing space.
  • The walls are built entirely from 4mm tempered safety glass, so there's no half-height paneling or opaque lower section breaking up the sightlines. It's a true all-glass structure from floor to eave, which matters both for light penetration and for how the greenhouse looks sitting in a yard.
  • For anyone in a hot or high-UV climate, there's a hybrid configuration available: a 10mm heat-block polycarbonate roof paired with the same glass walls. The polycarbonate diffuses direct sun and cuts glare, which reduces the risk of scorching plants directly beneath the roofline while still keeping the glass walls for the aesthetic.
  • Interior headroom is a deliberate design choice here — 6'7" sidewalls, taller than what's typical in this category. That extra height means less stooping near the perimeter and more usable vertical space for shelving, hanging baskets, or taller plants along the walls.
  • Structurally, the frame is 17-gauge aluminum, chosen for a strength-to-weight ratio that holds up under wind and snow load without adding unnecessary bulk. Every seam where glass meets frame uses rubber glazing seals, and the windows are fully sealed — this is what keeps the structure quiet and draft-free rather than rattling in wind, which is a common complaint with lower-end glass greenhouses.
  • Layout flexibility is built in too: the double sliding door isn't fixed to one wall. It can be installed on any side of the structure, which lets the owner orient the entrance based on their yard layout rather than being locked into the manufacturer's default.
  • Finally, the unit ships with an integrated 6" foundation frame, meaning it's engineered to sit on a proper base or footer rather than being staked directly into soil — an important detail for anyone budgeting for the installation, since site prep needs to account for this.

What’s Included

Everything needed to enclose and operate the structure comes in the box:

  • The complete frame system, glazing panels, and rubber seals for weatherproofing
  • Roof vents with automatic wax-based openers and spindle mechanisms (the number of vents scales with the size ordered)
  • One louver window with a Lexan panel for additional passive ventilation
  • The double sliding door
  • A built-in misting system for humidity and irrigation control
  • Decorative Victorian ridge cresting along the roofline
  • Gutters with downspouts for rainwater management

Technical Specifications

The Royal Victorian is offered in three footprints, so the right size really depends on available yard space and intended use:

VI 34 — the smallest of the three, measuring 10'2" wide by 15' long, giving 152 square feet of growing space. A good fit for tighter yards or buyers who want a dedicated glass structure without committing a large section of the property to it.

VI 36 — steps up to 10'2" wide by 19'11" long, totaling 203 square feet. The extra length adds meaningful room for benching, potting stations, or a wider variety of plants without changing the footprint's width.

VI 46 — the largest option at 12'7" wide by 19'11" long, offering 250 square feet. The added width here (rather than length) opens up the interior significantly, better suited to buyers who want room to walk around freely or set up multiple growing zones.

All three share the same 9'2" peak height and 6'7" sidewall height, so the difference between models is footprint, not headroom.

Installation & Manuals

Assembly typically takes 2–3 days with a crew of 2–3 people — this isn't a same-afternoon build, largely due to the glass glazing work and the size of the larger models. Buyers should plan the timeline and labor accordingly, especially if they're coordinating with a foundation contractor beforehand.

Delivery & Prep

  • Free shipping to all 48 contiguous states
  • Delivery time: 8–13 business days
  • Ships via LTL freight (curbside): liftgate drops the pallet at ground level; plan on 2–3 people to move it from the curb to your install site
  • Outside the mainland US (Alaska, Hawaii, international)? Shipping terms need to be confirmed separately

Warranty

The structure carries a 15-year limited warranty covering the frame and build.

Planning Ahead

Prepare your site before your greenhouse arrives

A Royal Victorian greenhouse is built to last, but the right prep matters. Before your order ships, we'll help you think through the foundation, anchoring, utilities, delivery access, and installer support worth planning for.

Foundation prep

Most Royal Victorian greenhouses need a flat, stable foundation to sit on — this isn't a structure that gets staked directly into soil. The manufacturer recommends an 8" concrete strip foundation that reaches down to your local frostline.

The frostline detail matters more than it might seem: in colder regions, a foundation that doesn't go deep enough can heave with seasonal freeze-thaw cycles, which over time throws the whole structure out of alignment — doors stop sliding smoothly, glazing seals stress, and the frame can develop gaps. Because frostline depth varies significantly by region, this is something worth confirming with a local contractor rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all number. This also ties back to the greenhouse's own integrated 6" foundation frame — the concrete strip foundation is what that base frame sits on and anchors into.

Anchoring

Once the foundation is in place, the greenhouse needs to be securely anchored to it using manufacturer-recommended hardware — and critically, the right hardware depends on the wind and snow load conditions specific to your region.

This connects directly to the performance ratings already confirmed for each model: wind ratings of 115–130 mph and snow tolerances of 20–30 psf depending on size aren't just numbers on a spec sheet — they're only meaningful if the anchoring hardware and installation actually match those ratings. Under-anchoring a greenhouse in a high-wind region effectively caps its real-world wind resistance well below the rated number, regardless of how strong the frame itself is. This is a step worth taking seriously rather than treating as a formality.

Water and power

Any utility runs — water lines for the misting system, or electrical for lighting, heating, fans, or other equipment — need to be planned and installed before the site is finished, not after. Trenching or running lines once the foundation is poured and the greenhouse is assembled is far more disruptive and often not practical.

The recommendation here is to coordinate directly with an electrician and plumber early, so utility runs are brought to the greenhouse footprint at the same time as general site prep — ideally before the foundation is even poured, so conduit and piping can be run underneath or through it cleanly rather than added as an afterthought

DIY & Installer support

Assembly is estimated at 2–3 days with a crew of 2–3 people, but not everyone wants to take that on themselves. Whether the plan is to self-install or bring in a professional, the manufacturer/seller offers support either way — helping DIY-inclined buyers find the right path, or connecting buyers with vetted installers if they'd rather hand the build off entirely.

This is worth deciding early, since it affects the rest of the planning sequence — a DIY install means the buyer is coordinating foundation, anchoring, and utilities themselves on their own timeline, while going the installer route usually means those steps get folded into a single scheduled project.

Delivery

What to expect when your greenhouse ships

Before delivery, you'll receive tracking details and guidance so you know what's coming, where to place it, and how to store the parts before assembly.

Freight delivery

Your greenhouse ships by LTL freight and is delivered curbside. Greenhouses typically arrive in about 8 to 13 business days, including packing and transit time.

Plan for large crates

The VI46 arrives in a heavy glass pallet with long cartons for the frame and components, so it's important to plan enough space for drop-off.

Unload safely

The driver will unload the glass pallet with a liftgate and pallet jack. You'll want help available for the long cartons and moving parts after delivery.

Store parts dry

Store the greenhouse components in a garage or dry covered area until assembly. Keeping everything dry helps protect the frame, packaging, and glass.
